Reporting to: Immune Monitoring Laboratory Manager
The Immune Monitoring Scientist will be responsible for immune reconstitution assays on patient samples from our clinical trials. He/she will further assist on all GCLP laboratory activities as required. The successful candidate will work in Cell Medicaâ€™s Houston laboratory facilities. They will demonstrate an ability to learn new skills and adjust to a rapidly changing environment, particularly in respect of sample requirements. Some flexibility in working hours will be required, including willingness to accommodate occasional evening or weekend work, depending on sample arrival schedules.
â€¢ Assist in transferring GCLP patient monitoring capabilities from Cell Medicaâ€™s London facilities to its Houston facilities.
â€¢ Coordinate, receive, process and analyze patient samples according to written procedures and GCLP, as part of Cell Medicaâ€™s clinical development program and routine patient monitoring.
â€¢ Report patient monitoring data and input into electronic databases.
â€¢ Follow procedures for laboratory and equipment maintenance, cleaning and monitoring (flow cytometers, optical plate reader for ELISPOT assay plates, cell counter).
â€¢ Maintain appropriate stocks of required reagents and materials.
â€¢ Draft, review, and amend relevant standard operating procedures.
â€¢ Support process and assay development for R&D purposes where required.
Education and Experience
â€¢ Bachelorâ€™s degree in science with at least 2 yearsâ€™ relevant work experience.
â€¢ Experience with mammalian cell culture, including aseptic technique and operations in a class II BSC required.
â€¢ Experience with standard immunology methods such as flow cytometry, ELISpot required.
â€¢ Experience handling human blood samples, isolating & culturing PBMCs
â€¢ Demonstrated ability to routinely and consistently perform and document analytical procedures according to written protocols is required.
â€¢ Database management experience strongly preferred.
â€¢ Familiarity with operating in a GLP/GCLP environment is strongly preferred.

â€¢ High attention to detail.
â€¢ Diligent in recording work & data.
â€¢ Capable of working effectively in a team environment.
â€¢ Good communication skills.
â€¢ Motivated and capable of learning new skills and techniques.

â€¢ Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
â€¢ The person in this position needs to move about to access file cabinets and operate laboratory machinery, etc.
